Teach with Turtle Shell
An invitation to clinicians and educators who have something meaningful to teach — and a teaching style that prioritizes accessibility, affirmation, and real clinical usefulness.
Making space for excellent teachers
Turtle Shell Therapy Institute exists to support clinicians and the communities they serve. A meaningful part of that mission is making space for excellent teachers to share their expertise with the broader mental health community.
Visiting Instructors bring deep subject matter knowledge that Turtle Shell could not develop alone. In return, Turtle Shell brings the infrastructure that makes professional development trainings possible at scale — CE accreditation, platform technology, administrative support, and a growing audience of clinicians committed to ethical, inclusive, evidence-informed practice.
The program is designed to make collaboration smooth, expectations clear, and the focus where it should be: on delivering quality training to clinicians who need it.
A real partnership, not a platform rental

Two pathways, same process
Both pathways go through the same vetting process. Turtle Shell reviews for alignment of credentials with teaching focus, demonstrated teaching ability, alignment with mission and values, and capacity to meet program expectations.
By Invitation
Turtle Shell may invite a mental health professional to join the program based on existing professional knowledge of their work, recommendations from trusted colleagues, or attendance at events where Turtle Shell has observed their teaching.
Apply Directly
Mental health professionals may also apply directly to be considered for the program at any time. Applications are reviewed as they’re received, and decisions are typically communicated within 30 days of a complete submission.
What to submit
Whether by invitation or open application, prospective Visiting Instructors submit the following:
- Current resume or CV showing your clinical, educational, and professional background
- Documentation of professional licenses and credentials in good standing
- Sample training material demonstrating your teaching approach — slide deck, recorded talk, written piece, or other artifact
- A brief statement (approximately 500 words) about why you want to be a Visiting Instructor at Turtle Shell, your training philosophy, and the populations or topics you want to teach about
- One professional reference who can speak to your teaching or clinical work
Proof of professional liability insurance is verified at the signing of the Master Visiting Instructor Agreement — not at the application stage. You don’t need to secure insurance before applying.
