Widening access to Turtle Shell's continuing education trainings for clinicians whose path into advanced training has been narrower than it should be.
Continuing education should not be gated by cost
The continuing education that shapes a clinician’s skill — and ultimately the care their clients receive — is too often gated by cost, setting, geography, and professional networks that have historically excluded many of the clinicians whose presence in this field matters most.
The clinicians doing some of the most necessary work in this field are often the ones most likely to be priced out of the training that would deepen it. This scholarship is a small but deliberate effort to change that.
Applicants do not need to document financial hardship. The scholarship is designed to support clinicians whose access to continuing education is shaped by structural barriers.
3 awards per training cohort
- 1 full-tuition award100% of training cost covered
- 2 half-tuition awards50% of training cost covered
Awards are offered for each eligible Turtle Shell training cohort. Scholarship eligibility is noted in the registration materials for each training.
Three-part email application
Applications close 30 days before the early-bird registration deadline for the associated training. Decisions notified within 7 days of the close date.

Short Essay (500–750 words)
Respond to both prompts:
- The populations you serve or hope to serve, and how this training would support your work with them
- The professional context you work in and any factors shaping your access to continuing education
Reference Letter
One letter from a mental health professional, supervisor, professor, or other professional who knows your clinical work. The letter should speak to your clinical skills and how this training would support your career.

The Growing Shell Scholarship for Trainings operates on a per-training cohort basis rather than a rolling or annual cycle. Each Turtle Shell training has its own application window.

Decisions notified: Within 7 days of the application close date
Enrollment complete: By the early-bird registration deadline
